The Earl Warren Orchestra is directed by the Wisconsin-born Darrell Jalowiec, a former Marine with a Master’s degree in music education from Texas A&M University – Kingsville as well as a Master’s in education from Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX.
An eccentric but efficient instructor, “Mr. J” is often cited by the students of Warren High School as being hardworking, punctual, hilarious, and charismatic. He has taught orchestra for 26 years, including a 6-year stint in Corpus Christi as well as his current 20-year tenure with Northside ISD.
His primary instrument is the Double Bass. However, he can play all of the other orchestral instruments Warren has to offer: violin, viola, cello, and piano. Perhaps no one puts his multifaceted musical ability into words better than 2025-2026 Recruiting Officer Asher Hudak, who once posited that the teacher’s dexterity “…is a force to be reckoned with.”
